ACCA Fees in Somalia: What It Really Costs to Qualify

The honest answer to "how much does ACCA cost" is that it depends on three things you pay to ACCA, one thing you pay for tuition, and how many exams you have to resit. Most guides quote a single number and mislead you. This one breaks the cost into its real parts so you can budget properly and avoid the expenses that catch students out.

We have taught 354 students preparing for ACCA papers, and the pattern is consistent: the students who plan the cost in advance finish. The ones who do not plan usually stop after a failed paper they could not afford to repeat.

The four costs, explained

1. Initial registration, paid once

A one time fee to become a registered ACCA student. You pay it when you first sign up and never again, as long as you keep your account in good standing.

2. Annual subscription, paid every year

This keeps your student status active. It is due each year until you qualify, including years when you sit no exams. This is the cost students most often forget. If you let it lapse your account can be removed and reinstating it costs more than keeping it.

3. Exam fees, paid per paper

You pay for each exam you sit. Two things matter here. Fees rise as you move up the levels, so later papers cost more than the Applied Knowledge ones. And there is usually early, standard and late entry pricing, so booking early is genuinely cheaper.

4. Tuition, the part you control

Everything above goes to ACCA and is fixed. Tuition is the only cost you have real control over, and it varies enormously between a classroom provider and structured online courses.

Where to find the current figures

We deliberately do not publish fee amounts here. ACCA revises them periodically and a stale number in a blog post is worse than no number, because you budget against it and come up short. Check the fees page on the official ACCA website, and confirm the amount in your own currency at the time you register.

The cost nobody budgets for: resits

A resit is not just another exam fee. It is another exam fee plus several more months before you qualify and start earning as a qualified accountant. This is why preparation is a financial decision, not just an academic one. Passing a paper first time is almost always cheaper than the cheapest tuition option that leaves you underprepared.

How to reduce what you spend

• Book early. Early entry pricing is a real discount for simply deciding sooner.
• Only book when you are ready. Applied Knowledge exams are on demand, so there is no reason to sit before your practice scores say you are prepared.
• Keep your subscription current. Letting it lapse and reinstating costs more than paying it.
• Check exemptions. If you hold a relevant degree you may be exempt from some early papers. Exemptions have their own fee, but it is normally lower than sitting the exam.

A realistic way to budget

1. Look up the current registration fee, annual subscription and Applied Knowledge exam fee on the ACCA website.
2. Add the three together for your first year, then add one more exam fee as a contingency for a resit.

4. Plan the annual subscription into every year until you qualify, not just the first.
